We had our first market day on Saturday 11 October at Wallan Scout Market. This is part of the Partnership Against Pests project funded by the Victorian Government’s Department of Agriculture.

We weren’t sure about what to expect but we were blown away with the level of interest in all aspects of our local environment. We handed out plenty of information sheets about weeds and pests in our area. We also demonstrated our nest boxes that provide homes for a wide range of wildlife in the area.

We had native plants, stakes and guards for sale which went down very well helping us raise funds for the work we do.

We were really encouraged by the number of people keen to volunteer with our tree planting projects and other activities. We also had a few people grab membership forms which is great as we want to expand the impact we can make while connecting the community.

We have two Partnership Against Pests events coming up, on Sunday 19th October, we have a Rabbit Control Demonstration day at 225 Munts Rd https://events.humanitix.com/rabbit-control-demonstration-and-workshop. On 25th October we have a Woody Weed Demonstation day at Cleves Rd South, think Blackberry and English Gorse that are growing everywhere now that we are in spring. https://events.humanitix.com/woody-weed-demo-day
These events are free but please register as we need to know numbers for catering (yes there is such a thing as a free lunch.)

A big thanks to Bendigo Bank who funded our Marquee, tables and chairs they are getting plenty of use.
